Los primeros momentos de la historia de Kodak

La fotografía es un campo –¡y también un arte!– muy extenso. Además, cuenta con una historia increíble, al igual que las empresas más importantes del mundo de la fotografía. Hoy vamos a ver los primeros momentos de Kodak como empresa y las primeras fotografías que tomaron.

La empresa Kodak, fundada por Robert Eastman en 1888, es –o por lo menos lo era– una de las empresas más populares, gracias a que llevo la fotografía a las masas, algo parecido a lo que hizo Apple con el ordenador. Para entender su popularización debemos tener en cuenta que fueron los pioneros en la creación de los primeros carretes, pues hasta entonces se utilizaban placas fotosensibles.

Con estos nuevos carretes Kodak lanzó también su primera cámara, con el nombre –tan original– de Kodak Nº 1. Esta primera cámara valía en su día 25 dólares, pero hay que tener en cuenta que esos 25 dólares tenían un valor de unos 600 dólares actuales. A pesar de su precio, la Kodak Nº 1 tuvo un éxito tremendo entre las masas, lanzando a la empresa al éxito.

Más tarde Kodak lanzó una cámara de fotos aún más barata, tan solo valía 1 dólar. Brownie se llamaba, y contaba con la posibilidad de realizar fotografías de manera muy sencilla. Algunas de estas fotografías aún se conservan gracias a Flickr y el museo virtual que han abierto al respecto. Todas las imágenes fueron tomadas entre 1888 y 1890, disfrutad.
