La BBC manifestó hace un tiempo que pretendía poner en marcha la iniciativa BBC’s Make It Digital con el objetivo de que los niños británicos aprendiesen a programar. La idea era desarrollar videojuegos, programas y concursos diseñados específicamente para introducirles en la materia de manera lúdica, y la cadena pública británica acaba de anunciar que está lista para lanzar el primero de los materiales.
Se trata de The Doctor and the Dalek, un videojuego online dirigido a niños de entre 6 y 12 años basado en la serie Doctor Who en el que deberán guiar al Doctor, al que pone voz el propio Peter Capaldi, en una de sus peligrosas aventuras. En esta ocasión el popular Señor del Tiempo se adentrará en el planeta natal de los sontarans y se topará con sus malvadas cámaras clone o clone chambers, nunca antes vistas.
La sinopsis oficial de la historia es la siguiente:
La Tardis se materializa en medio de una persecución mortal por el espacio. Una nave Dalek acecha a una nave Cyber, pero desde esa nave Cyber emana una llamada de socorro… de un Dalek! Tras liberar a un Dalek torturado por sus captores Cybermen, el Doctor afrontará junto a su nuevo e inesperado aliado una misión que consistirá en salvar la creación de la destrucción de la mano de sus mayores enemigos. ¿Pero por qué un dalek pediría ayuda de su enemigo mortal?
Vaya, como cualquier otra lío timey wimey wibbly wobbly del Doctor. Los jugadores tendrán que resolver puzzles y superar retos para tomar el control de un dalek en apuros que necesita reactivar algunas de sus habilidades como volar o atacar.
El juego estará disponible de forma gratuita tan sólo en el Reino Unido a partir del 22 de octubre en la web de CBBC, el canal infantil de la BBC.
